Re: URC Semi Final - Ulster vs Stormers - Saturday 13th May k.o. 3pm. Live on Viaplay/URC TV/Supersport and Dave's Sofa
This thread reminds me of the Python Yorkshiremen "We were poor" sketch, so to bring it to levels of complete farce... ...Rumours abound in the media of Toulouse making a daring bid for the "dream team" of coach Soper (with his magic laptop), outhalf Billy (tough as teak) Burns a...

Re: Where do we go from here?
I always come back to something lacking in the culture of the set up. I think we all agree that we don't believe Ulster could have dug in like Munster did on Saturday, ffs we were physically wrecked in the last quarter of the last 16 clash with Leinster, if it had been a boxing match the ref would h...

Re: Where do we go from here?
Anyone listen to Trimby's podcast last week? Priceless start, Murphy and Fogarty literally laughed for the first minute, but he took it well in fairness, as must we all. The key question being debated was whether Ulster are 4th or 5th best team in Ireland, after Tereneure? You can only laugh sometim...

No question that the group were affected by the (unsubstantiated) rumours of Munster’s big bucks swoop for Billy during the week, it unsettled the whole team….

Re: Ulster v Connacht
Ulster representation at WC, imo: All of course depending on injuries and performances in the warm up games: Stewart at expense of Herring (just a sense) Balacoune Henderson O’Toole Think Timoney and Treadwell will suffer because of Endofseasonshitshowgate That would make it 4 out of 33, incredible ...

One could get quite despondent really, until one remembers that Greg Jones has re-signed for next season….

Re: Where do we go from here?
Good question. Rant coming…. General comment: Doing the same thing, again and again, and expecting a different outcome, insanity and all that, that’s Ulster Rugby. You have to start with honesty. The comments about us improving, coming second in the league, scoring more tries and points. Does anyone...

Re: Ulster v Connacht
After 22 years we’re not renewing our STs. To be clear, not because of that shitshow tonight, it’s a long oul haul up and down to Fermanagh on a winter evening and it’s getting pricey, but part of me wondered/hoped I might change my mind after seeing a rip roaring, cracking game in ideal weather, wi...

Re: Ulster v Connacht
Just want to say that if the result, whatever it is, is put down to the referees, or TMO's performance, then we've lost. We need to win, period, regardless of refs, cards, weather, time of the month for the backs, or whether Greg Jones is fit, we must be better than that!

Re: Ulster v Edinburgh Friday April 21 7:35pm - Viaplay Sports 1 / URC TV / Super Sport
No coherent attacking strategy, a gift of an intercept try, a try where most defenders would have put Baloucoune into touch handily enough, double digit turnovers, knocking on in contact so well and so consistently that you wonder if we’re actually coaching it as a skill, oh, and running into teamma...

Re: We need a ten, but we don't seem to know it.
Last Friday at the Dragons game, Cooney kicked one ball directly to touch from under his posts, ignoring the obvious pass to the ten (who would have had more time). Result, lineout close to the halfway line. Stockdale could do the same to the right touchlines. Billy at best gets 30 metres. Anyone at...

We need a ten, but we don't seem to know it.
Like Fitzgerald put it well, Ulster needs a 10, but the coaches don't seem to believe so. Seeing young Prendergast, who has some physical development still to do, effortlessly spiral touch finders 50 metres, just underlines it. Billy is a good lad, bar the theatrics anytime someone touches him, but ...

Re: Ulster v Dragons Fri April 14 7:35pm
Players should be pretty well rested so we probably don't need to overly manage the squad. But saying that, the ext two games don't look very important as it looks very unlikely we will catch stormers. 2 BP wins will probably see us still in third, whilst 0 points will see us in 4th which is more o...
