Best news I've heard all week.
+1 He is one player who really deserves to have the summer off. Could this be player management on the part of UR?

From the rolling glens of Antrim through the hills of Donegal we will stand and shout for Ulster as we win both scrum and maul from the lovely lakes of Fermanagh tae the shores of ould Lough Gall we will scream and shout for Ulster as we beat them one and all!

A 20 year old outhalf needs games more than he needs a summer on the beach and in the gym.

Ferris is a man who needs to put his feet up for a while.

Agreed and they owe us at least three favours for not being flexible about 3N!

Ferris was just about mobile in the airport last Sunday, lad needs a rest so hope he gets it for his own sake.

Fez being reported a 'doubt' for the tour with a calf strain. One for NZ benefit no doubt, name him to travel then pull him out due to injury

Summer off for 1F...

Stephen Ferris ruled out of Ireland tour to New Zealand

Ulster flanker Stephen Ferris has been ruled out of Ireland's summer tour to New Zealand with a calf complaint.
Ferris sustained the injury during the Heineken Cup final defeat by Leinster at Twickenham last weekend.
His place in the 29-man touring party will be taken by Leinster back row forward Kevin McLaughlin.
Several positions in the squad have yet to be confirmed and this will take place after the game between Ireland and the Barbarians on Tuesday night.
The game at Gloucester will give players the opportunity to prove their fitness and form before coach Declan Kidney finalises his panel for the three-Test series with the All Blacks.
Kidney has initially named three uncapped players in his squad
Ulster prop Declan Fitzpatrick, Munster hooker Mike Sherry and winger Simon Zebo are named in the 29-man panel.
Ulster's Darren Cave and Dan Tuohy are also included, but Craig Gilroy misses out.
Tom Court has been ruled out with a thumb injury sustained in the Heineken Cup final while Brian O'Driscoll returns after missing the Six Nations.
O'Driscoll is back in the squad for the first time since the Rugby World Cup and has been confirmed as captain for the tour.
There are a number of spaces left vacant with a further prop, second row, back row and scrum-half to be added before the squad departs for New Zealand.
Paul O'Connell is certain to occupy one of those slots if he recovers sufficiently from a minor knee operation.
Isaac Boss is also set to come in, although Paul Marshall may come under consideration if Boss fails to recover from a quad muscle injury.
Brett Wilkinson and Chris Henry are being tipped to come in to take the vacant forwards' positions.
Paddy Wallace has been omitted and Tommy Bowe is not available after having surgery on a kidney problem.
Luke Fitzgerald is missing with a neck injury which kept him out of the Heineken Cup final.
Ireland will play world champions New Zealand in Auckland on June 9, with Tests in Christchurch and Hamilton to follow on 16 and 23 June.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for some of the players coming into the squad," said Irish coach Declan Kidney.
"It will be a great learning experience and this is not the time for the faint of heart.
"We will go there as strong as we can and front up."
Ireland squad: Forwards: Rory Best, Sean Cronin, Declan Fitzpatrick, Cian Healy, Jamie Heaslip, Kevin McLaughlin, Sean O'Brien, Donncha O'Callaghan, Peter O'Mahony, Mike Ross, Donnacha Ryan, Mike Sherry, Dan Tuohy, AN Other, AN Other, AN Other.
Backs: Darren Cave, Gordon D'Arcy, Keith Earls, Rob Kearney, Fergus McFadden, Conor Murray, Brian O'Driscoll, Ronan O'Gara, Eoin Reddan, Jonathan Sexton, Andrew Trimble, Simon Zebo, AN Other.

Really he just doesn't want to bother and he'll sit at home all summer playing FIFA. There's nothing wrong with him really

Zeno picked over young Gilroy is a farce

This is a totally farcical selection.
Yes, Zebo is a particular highlight with either Dave Kearney or Craig Gilroy being much more deserving. I don’t think even EOS would have selected Zebo.
I would also have left Radge at home (what the blazes is he going to learn or what will DK learn about him?) and brought Paddy Jackson or even Keatley for the trip and the experience. If this was a 6N match OK, but it’s not.
