It's a word that is fashionable to hate if you are a growling rightwing turd, my only issue with WOKE is that it doesn't appeal to my ear, people being WOKE gives me no problem and I say that as a feminist socialist who as our Aussie friends, the feckin' crims, would say believe everyone is entitled to a "Fair Go", no more, no less.
Baggy, I'm often in agreement with you, but the Rightwing turd bit ref hating the concept of woke is ballix. Happy to refer you to my previous post to save repeating myself
Ach my friend one can't please everyone all the time. I assume being an anti-Wokist you would also ban abortion after 6 weeks and deny the elected weemin of Missouri the Right to Bare Arms? I regret it also seems possible you may hate the idea of the prosperity that a border in the Irish Sea AKA Don't bother yer hole checking stuff coming from UK, AKA who cares if a wee bit gets smuggled - or a huge hape. In the, pre-BReakfast AKA BRexit , wise words of Guy Verhofstadt the most workable solution to the NI Border is "a blind eye". Old Guy is no mug and as WOKE as Feck. >EW
Astonishingly genteel riposte from ye :flower: Why can't anti woke equal moderate?
Let's see;
1. No- current UK law is fine, but neither should the process be a cause for celebration. I'm assume you're talking about UK Law rather than the shambles of reversal of Row versus Wade which I disagree with. Counter to that abortion in the mind of some Yanks to point of birth ffs? Downs syndrome fetus aborted to point of birth in UK? Appalling. Woman's right to determination inviolate, I have issues with what I've outlined above. Surely reasonable.

2. I support the second amendment for Weemen everywhere to shoot abusive spouses. If youre talking about Row Vs Wade I refer you to point 1.

3. Green lane fine for me. Sure smuggling is a way of life at Cullaville and Cullyhanna- so a bit more into EU isn't going to make a difference and reduce the acid washings polluting every river in Louth.

4. Gee is as woke as Nigel , and both should be ignored. Business always finds a way, regardless of Dupers or Shinners
I'm just short of 5 years in España CIMAN, it has been good for my levels of tolerance, perhaps the most liberal democracy in Europe its wonderful after 64 years in a hate-riddled shytehole. I suspect I am a better man for the experience, tolerance is a great thing.

The right to bare arms was a small wordplay. Those liberal men in the Senate house in Missouri have voted that females of the species should have their arms fully covered whilst in the legislature. Hence the right to Bare Arms as distinct from the Right to Bear Arms. Missouri Senate - a kind of Redneck Talibán.

Back with Woke, my dislike of the anti-Wokists is mainly based on right-wing USA dullards who really are despicable. The overturning of Roe V Wade absolutely several steps back in time, old white men ruling weemin's bodies. Ironically Ron De SantaClaus in Florida would love to encourage the states weemin to be well-shod and pregnant BUT only if they are white, he has no time for more Latinos and people darker than his tan.

Have to say I'm out of touch with the UK, I have nothing but derision for the place post-breakfast. From a distance it appears to be in a parlous state.

Be good. :thumleft:

Not long back from Madrid- back in Summer then Hi Speed choo Choo to Barca. Lovely country. Been to the magnificent Seville and Montserrat. To do list is Toledo and Basque country. 100% love Espana and it's peeple. We agree! >dance

Genuinely never heard of the bare arms bit, but 100% agree- such controlling nonsense and yank Ballix. As is Sanctuary cities and lunacy of defunding the cops instead of just training them properly. The country is being ruined by exploitation of extremes. Canada and the abhorrent racist Trudeau sadly just behind without the mass killings.
Sadly UK following suit- must be the special relationship. You're best out .

As an aside my fave places recently were Tallinn and Rekjavik. Beautiful and worth a look.

Take care, and hope you get over the old lurgy.

Good to have a civilised chin wag despite some opposing views, and from the madness in 'Merica outlined above, rue the lack of opposable thumbs for those in government.

Whatever has happened in the team previous to now is irrelevant. Capitulations are in the past. Time to bury the hatchet and move on. Let's get behind Billy, Greg Jones, Dan etc...

Hopefully we have props. If we get this pack out:
Sutherland Herring/Stewart Jeff
AOC Treadwell
Sheridan Timoney Vermuelon

This backline:
Cooney Burns McCloskey Hume/Marshall
Stockdale Lowry/Moore Baloucoune

We have a shot at a final.

Another effing day out.

Baggy the objection to the Irish sea border has little to do with the movement of goods -- it was and is about volumes of paper --and the the differences in laws and as for the stop whatever -- its a paper window to stop a gale -- the fact is nobody trusts and English Politician less than an Unionist.

Baggy those who promote "woke " should listen to My Back Pages by the Byrds

My self ordained professor's tongue would spout out that 'woke' is the past tense of a transitive verb, and not an adjective.

Just one question Ron'n, did the Byrds ever write anything they sang? They liked Dylan, that's for certain, Old Pete Seeger too, Turn turn turn, great advice.

AS for the objections to the Irish Sea Border, my friend, it's based purely on most people being as dumb as dirt. See previously quoted idea of Guy Verhofstadt. Its this simple Ron, when an intractable problem presents itself, work with the obvious answer, in this case, "the blind eye" anything else is only going to create problems. I cite the well known saw: Keep it simple stoopid.

8 Miles High

Unionist resistance to the Irish Sea Border comes from a teleological viewpoint; paperwork etc are incidental outworkings of it. Unionist look past this, as did Nationalists when a return to a hard land border was initially proposed. Hence the Gordian knot and lack of trust in Westminster more so than Gee and EU by Unionists. Gee was never the fundamental issue, nor nods as good as a wink workarounds. Just sayin'

The writings on the wall. Unionist majority gone. Pradestant majority gone. Look at the young demographic. The GFA and the Windsor agreement are the best chance to cling on but the DUP are p$ssing it up the wall. Is it any wonder the Shinners are so quiet?

Why give a sucker an even break?
Watching about Ervine and his widely credited quote about Prods were too stupid to realise they've won- but pretty sure it was Brendan the dark Hughes first- as the RA struggled to turn defeat ( in their original context of getting Brits out) into perceived victory.
Who would've thought that the DUP and TUV would do what many RA campaigns couldn't. Irony isn't an adequate term

Why is Nationalist vote share the same as in 1998 then?

Perhaps the Shinners& SDLP should shout a bit louder?

I don’t think anybody is ‘winning’ in local politics at the minutes. It’s all a feck.
