Re: Next NIQ
It's more his position that concerns me. He's a number eight, give us great depth at 8 with three specialist eights... and only three flankers with Ferris, Henry and Birch. One of whom is unestablished and the other of whom is a converted 8. It's number 8 fever. Wall to wall number 8s. Combined with...

Re: Next NIQ
If it's Nick Williams, as I've heard elsewhere, I'll be incredibly annoyed at the IRFU over losing Wannenburg. Although I'd be annoyed if we signed another 8. Wilson/Diack- Henry can move over there too. We need a flanker. But I suspect much of our budget to replace Wannenburg has been taken up by W...

Re: URSC Player of the Season 2011/12
I'm absolutely stumped- I was torn between giving my final vote to either Chris Henry or Stefan Terblanche  Obviously Ferris and Best have been exceptional, but the bulk of their best stuff has been played in green and in the Heineken Cup. For sheer impact across the whole season it's very ...

Re: President Martin
It would be completely inappropriate for players to refuse to shake hands with any head of state they are publically introduced to. For the same reasons players don't make fun of the Haka or talk amongst themselves during the opposition's anthems. There's something called manners and protocol that t...

Re: Pre match scran plummeting from bad to worse!
I never eat at the ground. But I can see why you might if you didn't get off work until 6 or something. Judging by traffic patterns in Belfast this isn't too many people on a Friday! Poets day. If a friend found himself in that situation I would advise him to bring a few sandwiches, or perhaps a wel...

Re: Ulster Midfield
But Luke Marshall has to be given a chance to play in this team, he's simply too talented. I think he has to be accommodated on the bench for us. He can cover fullback Agree that is why I copped out and did'nt include him in the centre mix,I don't know what his best position is,he appears to be qui...

Re: Positives & Negatives: Ulster V Glasgee
It's not so much that he can't pass, he's not great at it, its more that he has a tendency to try to run through everything. Firstly, he needs to build more confidence in that side of his game. Secondly, he needs to learn when to pass. The first one will come with hard work, good coaching and persev...

Re: Ulster Midfield
No way should Payne play centre for us! Great player, but we have two of the most exciting young centres in Ireland in Marshall and Spence, a current Ireland international in Wallace and two excellent club players in Cave and Whitten. Thats serious strength in depth- five very decent Irish centres- ...

No me neither, but I'd rather have him than break up the centre partnership thats developing. Those two are building a partnership; best not to tinker with it.

Re: Ulster - Glasgow
I don't think Luke Marshall is out of favour at all, just a lot of competition. With five top class centres in our squad, one of them needs to be tried on the wing. A lot of our backline moves involve our wing running a hard line into midfield. It's an unusual move but worth a try. Would not try it ...

Re: The season ahead.
I noted in the match programme last weekend that John Afoa won't be arriving until December, so Fitzpatrick and Cronin are going to need to have massive seasons. Particularly for the first four Heineken Cup group games- Afoa will probably only be in harness for our last two HC group games. I would s...
