Clinton Van Rensberg was decent enough - I liked his cut off sleeves - made him look well-hard!

Didn't he leave (of his own wishes) just after the group stages of the 98/99 season (Cables can verify or otherwise)....really bad timing a couple months before the Euro Cup win!
If only everyone had Neil McMillan's dedication....

was there not some kind of contract issue, did we not have him on loan from a welsh side, who recalled him, much against his wishes?

He couldn't speak a word of English which didn't help. Ulster had to hire an interpreter who was even used during matches, shouting instructions and so on, but when the play went too far from the touchline for him to be heard, it turned even more ludicrous.

(Cheapskate UR should have hired TWO interpreters - one for each touchline. The man has been branded a flop because of that)

Didn't we sign some huge Tongan guy (huge as in like a barrel)? I have a vivid memory of him trying to run across the pitch to catch up with the rest of the team and the ball but to no avail. What made it funnier was the guy on the prom beside us shouted to him "I bet you could get there if it was a pastie supper you were chasing you useless lump of lard". :duck:

Joe

Thats the name, boy he was useless, at rugby anyway. Before you al start I'm sure he is lovely man, caring and loyal husband, a wonderful father.......... no doubt we will have rambling stories fo how he bought the whole of Ravers a pint and saved a stranded cat in a tree in the middle of the pitch, which had be carried there by strong winds......
But he was not a great rugby player.
