Re: Neil Doak Head Coach Queens
So the head coach of Ulster's next gig is to be head coach in the 2nd division of the AIL?

Says a lot really.... either that or no one anywhere was interested. He would surely improved as a coach to have taken a leaf out of McCalls book and tried the big world.

When Les gets the sack, at least the world wide search for the new coach won't have to look to far, I know Neil has a young family but this shows a complete lack of ambition on his behalf

Re: Neil Doak Head Coach Queens
In fairness to Doak, he may just lack experience for the biggest job as yet. He coached Ireland A's backs etc.. with Foley as I recall so he must have something.
In hindsight, apart from the alleged feud with Clarke, to me the issue is one of familiarity and staleness ie he's bringing nothing new to the players and they need a different message to re-invigourate.
In many management jobs, I was always told by those whose word I trusted, that when starting out, give a job 3 years- 1st year to familiarise yourself, 2nd year to stamp your mark, 3rd year to be looking for your next move onwards and/ or upwards before you become stale... he's past that stage imo. Not many coaches in a job for that many years. Not good for him either I would surmise.
Would Wavey Davey Glaws not be interested?

1st year to blame the other guy you replaced.
2nd year to make your own decisions on matters you don't understand (aka f**k ups).
3rd year to hide in your office when you realise everyone under you knows you don't have a clue and search for a way into another similar managerial job before those above you also realise you don't have a clue and fire you.
Re: Neil Doak Head Coach Queens
Doak took a session at Queens when I was there. Chewed the hole off me during a training match for taking a calculated risk that didn't come off. Never liked him since.
