I've had the misfortune to spend some time in certain parts of the NICS and what I encountered was wall-to-wall avoidance of responsibility, ass-covering, failure to challenge bad decisions or ask questions - from bottom to top... (sound familiar?) The RHI tribunal is doing a great service by bringing a lot of this stuff to light.

In my experience, to the extent there are switched on people in the CS, they are basically switched off, and unabashedly there for the easy life.

So I think to get someone from the CS you'd risk either getting Shane Logan the second, or someone who wants an easy time of it
Neither are Civil Servants.

That's interesting, in what capacity? As consultants? Or are they somehow elected onto whatever committee is at the top?

The more pressing issue we have is the need for a support network for Cockers. The man has dedicated his life to this for the last 7 years. Everything that was a constant will be gone, He'll have no touchstones  left. Need to keep an eye on him. the whole thing could go belly-up.

He's even lying in that article! Would make you boke. Trying to say he was at loggerheads with the IRFU, he was their yes man, a feck tom kite business man and couldn't negotiate a meal deal with Dominoes. feck off Shane.

The delicious Irony of these two stories. Sweet sweet sweet

Shane Logan: Ulster Rugby chief executive to step down from role in August - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/44414807

Paddy Jackson: Former Ulster and Ireland fly-half joins Perpignan - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/44411185
