Re: The Golf
Well Rory did well to get to -9 and will be in the final group tomorrow with Tiger. Rose also on -9. Hopefully one of them can stop Tiger winning. The rest are probably too far behind.

Did Tiger play 4 and lose 4?

Quite a difference in the Captain's picks on each side.
Sergio now the leading points scorer in European Ryder history
Was thinking of putting this in the what annoys or what makes you happy thread, but will settle for putting it here:
What about the class of Butch Harman?
Reed wins his singles match after the cup has already been lost and tries to shush the crowd, drawing this from Harman, "cut that crap, show a bit of class"
Couldn't have put it better myself.
No doubt Butch would have loved a US of A victory, but he is totally fair and retains his class no matter what .

Re: The Golf
Reed seems to be a particularly "difficult" individual.
I'm not sure how the teams are picked but if there is a choice I wouldn't bother selecting the likes of Woods and Mickelson as they have shown themselves to be not much good at this event. The Europeans seem to have more of a team spirit to go with their ability. Maybe if the yanks put in some of the younger brigade they may be better off or put in guys who at least get on with other guys. Maybe I should offer my advisory services to them for the next Ryder Cup.
Anyway I'm not too bothered about Ryder Cups but glad that Europe have won it.

Re: The Golf
Pretty sure it's 8 players on each side who earn their spots through their performances in the 12 months beforehand. Each captain has four picks. Woods, Mickelson, DeChambeau and Finau were the US picks and it was only the relatively unheralded Finau who contributed any points. It would have been a massive call to leave out Woods who was in really good form but Mickelson's selection was bizarre. He hasn't played well since March and his nickname of FIGJAM (feck I'm Good, Just Ask Me) doesn't exactly suggest he's much of a team player.Shan wrote:Reed seems to be a particularly "difficult" individual.

Europe's selections were Garcia, Poulter, Stenson and Casey, all of whom delivered.

Re: The Golf
Anybody watch the match between Woods and Mickelson? I didn't and wouldn't. Looks like it really was as cynical as it seemed in the run up. I never was a Nick Faldo fan but he seems to hit the nail on the head with his comments. Or am I missing something?

If it's from a newspaper cutting why doesn't the sun tell us who they are?
That makes me suspect it might be a photoshop job, the likeness is too good.

Re: The Golf
I see Rory McIlroy is not playing the Irish Open this year. That will most likely generate a lot of whinging, most of which will be from folk with no interest in golf.
