8 of us flying Belfast - Paris Friday night, train to Clermont early saturday and back the next day. About £140 all in - not bad!
Where are people staying in Clermont?

Bold Strategy. I hope you have given yourself enough wriggle room re the train arriving in Clermont, checking in etc for a 2pm kick offboysontour2 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2019 5:12 pm 8 of us flying Belfast - Paris Friday night, train to Clermont early saturday and back the next day. With a 2pm kickoff we will hopefully be boarding their version of the Gliderbus (BUS B) @ Jaude stop (Rue Blatin, right beside Carrefour) by 12noon. 15 minute journey to Stade De Michelin. Slainte.

I’m more concerned about the trains from Paris and back!
Surprised you’re not walking to the ground Mike. Plenty of bars on the way.

Pre match gathering on Saturday all a bit hectic given the 2pm kickoff time but plenty of time for leisurely pints on Sunday for post match analysis and watching the Leinster and Munster games somewhere. Any particular venue(s) that are showing the rugby and that Ulster folk are likely to be in? We don't leave until Monday.

Cafe Pascal on the Place de la Victorie, beside the Cathedral show all the rugby and it is where everyone heads to.HwoodMike2umate wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 11:38 am Pre match gathering on Saturday all a bit hectic given the 2pm kickoff time but plenty of time for leisurely pints on Sunday for post match analysis and watching the Leinster and Munster games somewhere. Unions are calling for protests on Thursday. Could be fun if air traffic controllers downtools again.

On a more+be note. Decathlon have a good discount on their thermals.

Re: Clermont Vs Ulster 10/11 Jan
I was in France when they were on strike in December and most of the international flights still seemed to be going, with the vast majority of the cancellations being on internal routes. I'm not sure whether or not that was the result of some sort of policy, but it would make sense to try and keep the headlines around disruption to a minimum overseas. About 90% of the TGV's were cancelled though, along with a similarly high percentage of the TERs, so getting to Clermont from Paris CDG would be more likely to be a problem.
