Bus to Dublin airport is a real winner so long as you book for the return trip and waltz to the head of what passes for a queue. I've had to walk away and wait for the next one - no fun in the wind and rain. Wait inside and you're at the back of the next queue as well.

Re: Belfast restaurants
Had some experience of that on Monday Solids, after a 9.5 hr flight from Seattle. I did have an internet return tkt but was somewhat bemused to observe the chaos at the Dublin Airport stop when the bus showed up 15 mins late. I think more decorum would have been shown by sub-Saharan refugees trying to secure the last places on a dinghy to Sicily.solidarity wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2019 1:27 pmBus to Dublin airport is a real winner so long as you book for the return trip and waltz to the head of what passes for a queue. Indeed. It’s a bit of a shambles.
Didn’t book the first time and luckily got the last two seats.
Seems to be about two thirds full when it arrives!

8 hour flying visit yesterday and dined at the Bengal Brasserie on the Ormeau.
Very good it was too.
Crispy pops and well spiced relishes.
Chicken Sallie for me and the wife had chicken Jal jal which was pretty punchy.

Singapore noodles as good as ever at the RP on Saturday night.
I could have done without the Wolfe Tone song from the fellas with the Mexican accents and the Thai brides sat behind me if i’m perfectly honest though.

It was exactly like that but with some Warren Gatland singing British soldiers go home in the background.

Was at the Tutankhamum exhibition in Lahndahn at the w/e.
Found a superb Turkish restaurant in Pimlico called Cyprus Mangal.
4 hot meze; 5 cold meze; then a big plate of the best barbequed lamb and chicken I've ever tasted served with rice, salad and flatbread. Baklava and Turkish tea to finish all for £26.95.a head.
Took a load of meat home with us. Fantastic.

I’ve been to the pub just up the road.
Ginger Bistro was very good today.
French onion soup, followed by lamb pie.

...and. I f*cking hate "discretionary" service charges. I'm a fairly decent tipper and frequently give more than the normal 10% especially if the food is cheap but the service is good. It's always the pretentious rip off joints that add them. Was there not a move to ban them or was that not applicable in the Statelet? W@nkers.

Six by Nico was good tonight.
Some very enjoyable little plates of food from his chip shop theme. Excellent value.
The matching wines were bog standard but I guess they have to make their money somewhere.

Took my parents there a while back and my old mum surprised me slightly because she was 100% correct in identifying something that didn’t work in one of the dishes.big mervyn wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2020 2:11 am James St Sth

This is the woman who served up mince and carrots to me thirty years earlier. And rice pudding because she had the oven on.

Re: Belfast restaurants
We got the same dinner every day of the week. I think Tuesday was mince and onion day! We got rice pud if there was too much milk in the fridge. It remains a feckin classic dessert mind. Has to have raisins in it and the skin is the best part!
