Ulster Rugby v Zebre Rugby Club – Friday March 19th KO 20:15
Referee: Andrew Brace (IRFU, 63rd Championship Appearance)
Assistant Referees: Eoghan Cross and Peter Martin (both IRFU)
TMO: Brian MacNeice (IRFU)

Dead rubber no 2, chance for the youngsters to get more gametime. Probably best to rest key personnel for the Harlequins game on April 4.

Looks like Billy will be a bit short of game time prior to the match at Quins.
There’s certainly a decent argument that the out-half, in particular, for Europe should be starting on Friday.

Hopefully that's not Billy, if we plan to win it.

Keep Lowry at 10. Ulster won’t win a thing with Burns at 10.

6:2 bench split to give some young pups in the pack a decent half each.

It would be such a Billy thing to do. Go away with Ireland and lose his place at Ulster.

Good to see Izzy get a start, Lowry retained at 10 and McCann at 8. Thats an exciting backline if it clicks. Good to see Callum Reid on the bench again, would have preferred Doak/Finlay on the bench rather than Shanahan.. No sign of Sexton or Rea Jr..
Re: Ulster v Zebre Round 16 Friday March 19th 8:15pm KO
Good to see Izzy start. He definitely deserves it. Lowry at 10 is hopefully an indication of the position he will play moving forward. Had hoped Sexton might get a run but good to see the other nippers.

Really excited about that backline, bar Cooney everyone 24 or under? Either way that is a skilful backline with good footballers. Delighted ML back at 10, and Moore/Hume gets more time from start of season. Young McIlroy at 15 too, with Moxham on bench. good use of this fixture by DMcF re exposure.
Re forwards glad McCann is at 8, lets get him on the ball as much as possible - with Reidy & Murphy to help him out. Izzie has much too learn but his athletic talent is there for all to see again great to him getting game time. Glad there’ll be more exposure for Callum Reid - if he is a full viable option next season that would be a timely squad development at LH. McGrath’s fitness concerns me, and EOS definitely needs viable backup.
Glad all leavers aren’t involved - waste of gametime opportunity.
Shame Marcus Rea isn’t involved - looks good player - but very limited exposure. It is lack of athletic development so far, or is their a possible thought he might not make it? I suppose there’s not been much A fixtures to force your argument.

Reid is definitely physically up to the task. The same goes for Izzy. It's good to see these nippers coming through physically ready.
