Regards Ewers, he's got some serious lineout skills as a tail end gunner and maul specialist.

Not seen this mentioned much.

Yup those tight 5m situations pressing on opposition line, he will be great. As will Kitshoff.

Nobody is bullying that.

Treadwell covers the grass like an open side. Allows a slower backrow.
Could be bullied online by trolls or keyboard warriors.

On the other hand there must be a Georgian tight head somewhere looking a post world Cup deal.
Theres a former captain of France U20s playing week in week out at tight head for Brive in the Top 14.

Why are you telling me this I hear you say? Well I'll tell you this and tell you no more. His Ma and Da are Irish, he moved to France when he was a wee lad.

His names Daniel.... cannot mind the surname, anyway doubt its important, Daniel of Brive should be enough to get him signed. Worry about the detail after.

I imagine there are two options:
1) We keep JTA as our 3rd NIQ, meaning we lose Carter and are unable to sign an NIQ replacement second row (which some suggest we need)
Or
2. We lose JTA, and (if finances allow) use his spot to sign an NIQ second row. But then we would have to look at signing an IQ tighthead prop to back up Moore and O’Toole and/or keep Milasinovich on as 3rd choice as he is Irish qualified.

Would personally go for the first option with Moore’s injury and O’Toole possibly at the RWC, as well as the fact I can’t think of many Irish qualified tighthead props who would move to be 3rd choice, maybe someone like Jack Aungier from Connacht?

Still think we need to sign another second row, back row and fly half (if Mads and Flannery are leaving) but if we already have Kitshoff, JTA and Ewers, they would all have to be Irish qualified you’d imagine.

Though if we managed to somehow keep JTA as some sort of medical joker, that might give us some leeway with the IRFU to let us sign another NIQ. Wishful thinking tho
I'd be happy keeping JTA as long as his injury profile stands up.
Good propping style for such a tall man, and at 20stone or so, really adds ballast. Him and Marty would give significant TH Depth, as TOT develops.

I suspect he will also improve his handling skills with more gametime. He has a good engine on him. 150 out of 160 min last two matches speaks volumes. Dump Milosinovich and recoup part of JTAs salary.
Exterminate all rational thought

The 4 props who are certs to make the world cup squad bar injury are Furlong, Porter, Bealham and Healy. All could play TH (I think healy switched there for leinster recently). Wonder if Ireland may therefore only take 5 props initially with an extra LH like Kilcoyne and use the extra space elsewhere, with TOT a sub at home.

Hope this would not impact ulster's ability to keep JTA...at least until the new year.

Of course without at least a 1yr contract he may decide to leave anyway which would then be completely understandable

Ulster will need a tight head signing of some kind, or it could be a difficulty to field a team.

TH - Marty, TOT, Milo
LH - Kitshoff, EOS, Reid
Both- Warwick, albeit really only a TH in an emergency.

Swap JTA and Kitshoff and it's what ulster had at the start of the season - 7 props. Was recognised as not enough hence permission to get Sutherland so yes, hopefully JTA can make it up to 8.

For sheer numbers I think ulster has to keep Milo unless some young gun coming through, but obviously only if they can already physically handle it.

I have it on good authority EOS is off at the end of the season.
EOS and Cooney are two of three who have yet to commit or sign on.

Gilroy, Carter, Jordi and Duane all departing.
