Re: Injury Update
Aye, indeed, CI. Bobby was AWOL. He seems to need a couple of new contact lenses every game. This can't be helping his concentration or committment to the tackle or positioning. Jacob is a bit more solid and his left boot is still ok, but international material? Only if there's a dearth of fit options.CIMANFOREVER wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 6:44 pmseems increasingly ridiculous Solids.... Jacob maybe- Bobby was shockingly poor yet again, sadly. Suspect Nash or Bolton from Connacht may get the call. Both on an upward trajectory in comparison.solidarity wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 7:09 pmAye, indeed, CI. Bobby was AWOL. Re: Injury Update
Significant elbow injury for Herring does not sound goodThe Ulster Rugby Medical Performance team has issued a squad update ahead of Saturday's Investec Champions Cup Round 4 fixture against Harlequins at Twickenham Stoop.
Sean Reffell (groin) and Dave Ewers (concussion) both sustained injuries during Saturday's Investec Champions Cup defeat to Toulouse. Both will be unavailable for selection this week.
Also currently unavailable for selection is Rob Herring, who sustained a significant elbow injury in training last Thursday. He will see a specialist this week.
David McCann has now returned to full team training and is available for selection.

Rúaidhrí O'Connor on twitter saying Angus Curtis is retiring due to repeated concussions. Wish him well and hope he doesn't have any problems long term
Re: Injury Update
The lad was getting nowhere fast to be honest ahead of him he was facing McCloskey, Hume,Marshall Moore and Postlewaite and in the circumstance it makes a wise decision to be honest . He showed promise and bravery on the pitch, but as I state he lacked the experience of those previously mentioned due to injury.
Within this carapace of skepticism there lives an optimist
Re: Injury Update
Saw him after he came off at Zebre and he looked terrible.
Hope his luck improves post rugby.

Dreadful news. Hope he is just taking personal precautions and that there is no significant damage.
I have questioned whether he was ever good enough to hold down a senior contract for Ulster for as long as he did on here, but that was never a charge against him, more on Bryn.
Whatever he goes on to do, I wish him the very best. Seems a decent bloke.
Re: Injury Update
Good he’s making an early call on the concussions. Just wasn’t the player his dad was.

Re: Injury Update
Shame, isn't it. Is there anything that can be done to lower the rates of concussion or is it something that a contact sport just has to live with? All very physical sports have to accept that participants may incur serious injury. Cycling, basketball, hockey, rock climbing, not to mention boxing, all have their risks. So what do we do, give up very physical sports?
Re: Injury Update
There's things you can do in terms of tackle technique but in my totally unsubstantiated opinion, concussions boil down to luck. You can control your own technique making a tackle, but you can't change some oaf sparking you out with a high shot.solidarity wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 9:24 pm Shame, isn't it. I was really susceptable to head knocks, especially those micro concussions, when I played. Would feel off, on the ground after making a/being tackled, at least once a game, without being KO'ed. I was actually sparked out and unable to remember leaving the pitch maybe 4 or 5 times in 20 years, not sure if that is high or low, but it was always the micro concussions that worried me.
I'm in my mid 30s and haven't played in 5 years. The itch is always there to play again but I've got 3 kids, so f**k that . . .
