Wales and British and Irish Lions star James Hook is to leave the Ospreys at the end of the season.

Hook, 25, told the Ospreys on Tuesday he will not re-sign, but has yet to announce which team he will join.

"After all of the recent speculation , I informed the Ospreys ... I won't be signing a new contract for next season," confirmed Hook.

"The Ospreys have been vital to my development as a professional rugby player and I can't thank them enough."

He has been linked with French club Perpignan and is believed to have received other offers.

Hook has stated he would prefer to play at fly-half, but has more regularly played centre for the Ospreys.

This defines if you are an optimist or a pessimist

If the former you thought it meant James Hook
If the later you thought it meant George Hook

Never in doubt for me as a life long pessimist - George :(

Well, it worked for Wayne Rooney - what odds in Hook doing a u-turn if offered a substantial rise?

plus, of course the required reassurances on ....... blah, blah, blah .....

He's going to Perpignan, can't be formally announced until Feb though.
