Which should we focus on?

Post by breakdown »

Alot of debate on here about which competition matters most etc. Personally I think that we should forget about the Rabo for this year, get a TBP today and we could send our full team out against Leinster, as a warm up for the HEC SF rather than a must win game. I don't think that we have the squad to be fighting on both fronts each year, and we don't this year. Last season we got into the play offs for the first time ever and made history here and we have shown we can do it.

This year we have an outside chance of a top 4 finish but more importantly we have a HEC SF beckoning, the first one in over 10 years and it is the easiest SF you could get and win, so personally for me the Pro 12 is all but over, realistically we need two wins and a BP in one of them, and results to go our way. Fail to get a TBP today and its over. We do, and we have a small matter of European champions at home, one of the toughest games there is every year and for me its not a game we will win. Leinster, with a full team out are unbeatable and I would send out the Ravens again and wrap our first team in cotton wool for the SF.

Next season, I think we can get a home SF in the Rabo and the Heinekin, this year we were unlucky with players being away at the RWC and we lacked any real consistantcy. If we play our full team next year I think we have a real good chance at silverware on both fronts.

I think deep down you know the answer.

Therefore, I won't be voting.

Both! Ulster for the double!! :D
You've got to get your first tackle in early, even if it's late.

Considering the success Leinster and Munster have had in the Heineken cup over the past ten years or so, I think it's important Ulster put themselves forward as an important Irish side too. That said, don't put all your eggs in one basket ;)

Hey Gemma ... long time no hear from you !!!

While it would be great to see us claim 4th place, there is no doubt the cup takes prime preference :red:

I've been to a couple of away matches, but haven't made any this season (apart from last weekend, which isn't exactly local any more lol!). The South Wales games tend to be Friday nights which is impossible from work :( I did make the Ospreys game a couple of seasons ago, when we won :)

Sounds like you are a lucky omen ... are you in Dublin by any chance (and free) for Twickenham on 19th May? :)

Sadly I won't be at the Aviva - everyone else will have to cheer loudly for me. I admit, I have pencilled in the 19th, just in case ;)

Eggs in one basket is the ONLY decision. Only Toulouse & Tigers have ever one their domestic league & the HC. Leinster have a great chance to join that very exclusive club but I don't expect them to.

Now if someone offered you a home HC semi or an away Rabid semi which would you choose?
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.
