Ravenhill Redevelopment Song.

Post by ballpark »

If the Ravenhill Redevelopment does not just remain as a form and a plan in a planners filing cabinet then we can start sdinging this song.

A song dedicated to the dream of a roof over our heads and sung to the tune of the old Irish folk song Fiddler's Green.
The Ravenhill Redevelopment Song,

As I roved by the beer tent on Friday so rare'
To drink the hot port and take Ravers air,
I heard an old prawn sandwich singing this song.
O take me away lads my time is not long.

Chorus.
Dress me up in the scarf and Ulster Jumper,
No more by the beer tent I'll belong,
Just tell me old stand mates, I'm taking a trip mates,
And I'll see you someday in the Ravenhill throng.

Now the Ravenhill throng is a place I've heard tell,
Where Ulstermen go when the teams playin' well.
Where the weather is fair and the team how they play,
And the uncovered Terrace is far, far away.

Chorus: Dress me up ……..

Now the Terrace is all covered and there's never a gale.
And the prawn sarnies jump with a flip of their tail.
You can stand at your leisure there's nothing to do
Because Grumpy's away getting drink for the crew.

Chorus: Dress me up ……..

And when the game's over and the players are thru'
There's pubs and there's clubs and there's cheerleaders too,
Now the girls are all pretty and the drink it's all free,
And there's bottles of vino hanging from every tree.

Chorus: Dress me up ……..

With a pint in my hand or a port that's my aim,
Just give me the roof and a good 'oul Ulster game,
And they'll to the corners as we sing along,
When there's no wind on the Terrace I'll sing you this song.

Chorus.
Dress me up in the scarf and Ulster Jumper,
No more by the beer tent I'll belong,
Just tell me old stand mates, I'm taking a trip mates,
And I'll see you someday in the Ravenhill throng.

Great job BP but I doubt if the hoards could ever remember the words to start singing it
“That made me feel very special and underlined to me that Ulster is more than a team, it is a community and a rugby family"
