Re: Team for Friday night

Fair point about McComb, he did go well and he is a big old unit. Bigger than stated on the UR profile I'm guessing. I think Tuohy brings an athletic ability that the others don't. Yeah, he very much does. He'll be an important player for us once he's back and fit. I just feel we have a few good gu...

Re: Team for Friday night

I thought Neil McComb played very well, called the lineouts well, and probably deserves to keep his place. Barker had a really good game when he came on as well and Stevenson was very solid. So not sure about the need to rush Tuohy back into the fray. I'd probably keep the same second row.

Re: Harsh But Fair!!??

I think it's harsh and rather unfair. Firstly, the coach with responsibility for the forwards is Brian McLaughlin, with assistance from Allen Clarke and Johann Muller. Secondly Jeremy Davidson wasn't fired, his contract expired and both parties decided to move on. So it seems like the story presente...

Re: team v quins

Really strong Quins team. Gonna be a massive test for our tight five. If we pull off a result, I'll be so encouraged. That is a really tough pack of forwards- pretty much a full strength Quins pack. We have a load of forwards missing. Set pieces are going to be really tough.

Open Training Session?

I actually wasn't aware of this- haven't seen any mention of it elsewhere on the forum? If I'm wrong may the mods strike me down. Seems to have flown under the radar entirely. Certainly flew under my (finely tuned) radar. http://www.ulsterrugby.com/news/9584.php We're inviting all 2011-12 Season Tic...

Re: Player's Twitter Updates

Mr Fuzzy Logic was born in and lives in Northern Ireland. I will happily be defined as Northern Irish. I am not Irish, as I would class Irish people as those who are born in Eire, the Republic of Ireland or Ireland if you would prefer. Or the hundreds of thousands of us Norn Iron types with Irish p...

Re: Player's Twitter Updates

I can't believe anyone would be so childish as to get annoyed by someone not making the distinction between Northern Irish and Irish. It's a very small, unimportant trivial thing. This is the island of Ireland we live on after all. When the World Cup rolls around, we'll be supporting Ireland. Our sq...

Re: I could've stayed....

I am personally very disappointed he hasn't stayed, as I have always rated him quite highly. It's our loss. I'm backing him to have a good season over in Glasgow.

Re: Team V Bayonne

What annoys me is our own lack of try-scoring. I'm seriously worried we're going to struggle to score tries without Humphreys at 10 if he does miss the first game or two. Losing our 9, 10 and 12 is a serious issue. I hope to god one of the young outhalves puts his hand up.

I think his masterplan is proceeding perfectly- if you assume he's working undercover for the NZRU :)

Re: Pro 12 fixtures

Having a winnable home game first up is very important. We'll be missing lots of experienced players, new players will be in the 22 and we'll have only had two pre-season games and be rusty. There are plenty of banana-skin fixtures we could have had. I'm very pleased to have a very winnable tie at R...

Re: Pro 12 fixtures

Whats your source regarding the Glasgow fixture Mike? They have a good few Scottish internationals, so would be a good time to play them. They have a superb lock partnership of Gray and Kellock, but no real cover for them and they will be away on international duty. Likewise their first choice halfb...

Re: Could Payne be the new Rush?????

Article on the guy on the Planet Rugby site, talks a bit about the move. http://www.planetrugby.com/story/0,25883,3551_7031754,00.html Payne now heads to Ulster in Ireland where he begins a three-year contract at Ravenhill. For the time being, his ambitions are simple. "My immediate goals at Ul...
